African SMEs Need More Than Business Management Tools

The fact that there are over 100 million SMEs in Africa who transact offline over $2 trillion per year, is one of the reason we recently have been seeing more startups launching with aim and major focus of digitizing these SMEs who provide an estimated 80% of jobs across the continent.

Most African SMEs still use pen and paper to record and manage their businesses, that is why there has been different business management platforms trying digitize these SMEs, it should be clear that business management platforms are not a new thing in the continent, they have been there for a time, the only difference between the older platforms and the new platforms like Bumpa, Oze,SalesPOS and Kippa is that these new platforms are coming with a new promise of providing more business and financial values like Banking, digital payments, credits, free websites and more values to SMEs. We used to position business management platforms as Software as service(Saas) companies but today most of these platforms are positioned to be Fintech companies.
